About Me

I have been with Lakes and Bridges Charter School (LABCS) since August 2017. I spent the 2017-2028 school year working as an Independent Contractor, getting the school set up and ready to open for the 2018-2019 school year.

 

I have spent my entire career working with children with dyslexia in private schools until I came to LABCS, with 26 years prior at Camperdown Academy in Greenville, SC. I was in almost every position at Camperdown, from classroom teacher, to tutor, to co-founding Camp Creekside, to Director of Outreach and Teacher Training, to Transitions Director, to Assistant Head of School, to Head of Education, to Interim Head of School, to Acting Head of School, and everything in between.

 

As an Accredited Training Fellow of the Orton-Gillingham Academy (ATF/OGA), I have trained hundreds of teachers throughout South Carolina, North Carolina, Georgia, and California in the OG Associate Level and OG Classroom Educator Level trainings in private schools, public schools, school districts, and the SCDE.

 

After training teachers working primarily in inner-city schools in Los Angeles, I became passionate about being a part of something that allowed access and equity to all children, regardless of their socio-economic status. When I heard of a public charter school opening that offered an Orton-Gillingham-based Approach to teaching children with dyslexia that is tuition-free, I knew I had to be a part of it.

 

I am passionate about working with dyslexia, and I have loved every minute of my time at LABCS!
