Lunches and Dress Code
Please double-check each morning that your child has their lunch as they leave the house and then again before they exit the car. We keep a limited supply for emergencies, but we have had more requests lately due to students leaving their lunches at home or in the car.
Also, please make sure your child is in the correct dress code as well (this is in the Student and Parent Handbook) before leaving the house. We have students who are arriving at school out of dress code and are required to visit the Uniform Closet.
Lost and Found
We have a growing Lost and Found collection. Please feel free to stop by the school and see if any of the items belong your student.
A Note from the Front Office
Please remember to pack silverware for your child's lunch. Please make sure your child has a water bottle and a snack at school.
Thank you to those parents who participated in the Annual Climate Survey. We ended up with 71 parents who participated. 1st Grade had the highest participation rate with 58% parent participation. As a result, they will receive a pizza party for lunch. This will occur Tuesday, April 15.
A Note from the School Nurse
As spring has arrived, I have seen an increase in falls and injuries with students running in Crocs at recess. While I understand the comfort and ease of putting on Crocs in the morning, as well as their popularity, we encourage students to wear shoes that offer support and stability when running and playing. If they want to wear Crocs to school, please make sure they have tennis shoes to change into for recess. Tennis shoes are required for PE.
A Note from the PTA
Teacher Appreciation Week will be May 5-9, and PTA needs your help planning and orchestrating this week! The more help we have, the better week we can create for our amazing staff. And with more hands, there’s less work for everyone! Let’s work together to make it unforgettable!
LABCS PTA-Sponsored End-of-Year End Party
May 1, 2025, from 4-6 pm
Sky Zone
2465 Laurens Road, Greenville
90 Minutes of jumping
We will not be selling tickets for parents and siblings or offering pizza this year. You can buy parent and sibling tickets or food while you're there from the concession area.
Please use this link to reserve your child's spot. No RSVPs will be accepted after April 30th at 9pm.
A Note from the Development Director
THANK YOU to all who could attend the Mad Hatter's Ball! Our silent auction, live auction, and donations "Just for the Cause" brought in over $38,000 for the school. Because of your generosity, Lakes and Bridges can go beyond the basics for our student innovators. These kids are going to change the world, and we are so very grateful for the role you play in making this happen.
7th Annual Talent Show
The 7th Annual Talent Show will take place on Friday, April 25. Information was sent home; however, you can click here to access the information.
State Testing Technology Policy
At the April 7, 2025 Board Meeting, the LABCS Board of Directors approved an additional technology policy for state testing.
LABCS Board Approved SC State Testing Technology Policy for SCReady and SCPass
The following policy is in effect for SC state testing.
Students:
- If a phone or smart watch is not turned in during morning homeroom (this is school policy), it is an automatic suspension.
- If cheating occurs with a phone or smart watch, it is an automatic 10-day suspension and could result in the recommendation for possible expulsion.
What are the Different Levels of Truancy?
South Carolina has three levels of truancy: truant, habitual truant, and chronic truant.
- A student between the ages of 6 and 17 who has three consecutive unexcused absences or five unexcused absences in a school year
- A student between the ages of 12 and 17 who has two or more additional unlawful absences after failing to comply with an intervention plan
- A student between the ages of 12 and 17 who has been referred to Family Court and continues to accumulate unlawful absences
- A student who is truant may be placed on an Attendance Intervention Plan (AIP)
- A student who is habitually truant may need court intervention
- A student who is chronically truant may be referred to Family Court for violating a previous court order
- Juveniles who continue to miss school while under a School Attendance Order may be brought back to court for contempt of court
