Dyslexia Tidbit
Women's History Month
In honor of Women's History Month in March, each week, we will highlight women who have publicly shared that they are dyslexic or had significant reading difficulties, often crediting those experiences with shaping their success.
Jerry Hall - Supermodel Jerry Hall doesn't look at her dyslexia as a disability — she looks at it as a blessing. She told The Daily Mail, "Being dyslexic is very difficult in the beginning, but as you get older you learn to cope with it and I think it's great. It's like a gift because it makes you think differently."
Florence Welch - The lead singer of "Florence + The Machine" was diagnosed with both dyslexia and dyspraxia in school. In an interview with The Guardian, she says that her childhood challenges with learning have influenced her unique style — in both music and fashion — today. "I had dyslexia, which made me feel different than everyone else," she said. "As I got older I experimented with my hair and types of clothes, from Spice Girls to Little House On The Prairie styles."
Princess Beatrice - Princess Beatrice was diagnosed with dyslexia when she was seven years old. Beatrice chatted with Giovanna Fletcher for a special Back to School digital issue of Hello! magazine and opened up about being diagnosed with dyslexia. She described the condition as a 'gift' that any child of hers would be 'lucky' to have. 'I really see it as a gift, and I think life is about the moments, it's the challenges that make you.'

A Note from the Front Office
Mrs. Kelly Disbrow
School Climate Surveys due April 17, 2026
The South Carolina Department of Education partners with the Education Oversight Committee to deliver a parent survey. The responses to this survey help school and district leaders understand how parents feel about the school. A link to this survey is being sent to the parents or guardians of every student in South Carolina. If you have multiple children, you might get several links. We are only asking you to complete one survey for each school your children attend. You are permitted to complete one survey for each of your children if you want, but only one survey for each school is needed.
You received a letter last week with a QR code specific for your student. Please complete the survey by April 17th. If you need another copy of the QR code reach out to Kelly Disbrow at [email protected].
Absences
If your child is absent from school, you must provide a doctor's note or a parent note within 3 days of returning to school. You can send in a paper copy to the front office or email it to [email protected].
