YMCA Mentor Program and Collaboration with LABCS
We are excited to announce a partnership with the YMCA and their Mentor program. This wonderful program matches students (mentees) with adults (mentors) in the community. The mentors meet weekly with the mentee at the school. This program provides students with extra support and a positive relationship, so they can achieve their potential!
If you are interested in having your child be a part of the Y Mentor program, please email [email protected]. If you are interested in becoming a Y Mentor, you can fill out the application online.

We have a large collection of items in our Lost and Found cabinet - clothes, water bottles, lunch boxes, etc. If your child is missing any items, please swing by the school to check the cabinet. All items unclaimed by December 19, the last day before Holiday Break begins, will be donated to the Dream Center.
A Note from the Testing Coordinator
Mrs. Wendye Henderson
MAP Testing for all grades will occur the week of November 10-14. Please look for more information soon.
A Note from the Reading Coach
Mrs. Jessica Hudson
Our LAB Innovators now have the opportunity to practice their reading skills in an adaptive way with Reading Assistant during the school day. Our students spend approximately 30 minutes per week with this personalized program, which provides real-time interventions to further reading gains. We are excited to implement this new supplemental resource in our literacy program.
A Note from the Student Council Advisor
Ms. Stephanie Phifer

A Note from the Development Director
Ms. Debbie Vaughn
This is the last week to register a team for our fundraising golf tournament, Tee Up for Dyslexia! We'd like to have FIVE MORE TEAMS register before this Friday's deadline. A team of four is just $500 and includes carts and fees, a light breakfast, gift bag, snacks and drinks, and a delicious catered lunch from Rigsby's Smoked Burgers. What a fun way to spend the day for a great cause!
Our golf tournament is one of two major fundraising events that the school holds each year. Since our public charter school does not share in any county or local tax revenue like traditional public schools do, we depend on these fundraisers to make our school the best it can be for our brilliant student innovators.
A Note from the PTA
Mrs. Shelby Lear, President
Superhero Day – Monday, November 3 We’re celebrating our amazing dyslexic superheroes! Each student will receive a special treat (we’ve double-checked all items to align with allergy lists). Students are invited to wear their favorite superhero shirt to join in the fun and show that dyslexia is a superpower!
Pizza Day – Wednesday, November 5 Our next pizza day is coming up soon! Orders are due Monday by 11:59 PM. This is a hard deadline—we won’t be able to add late orders, so please be sure to get them in on time. Click here to order.
Ornament Fundraiser Launch Keep an eye out for order forms coming home! This year’s holiday fundraiser features beautiful keepsake ornaments ($14 each) and Santa cookie plates ($18 each). Orders can be placed online through our Givebacks link. Deadline to order is Wednesday, November 12. Ornaments will be sent home the first week of December.
Don’t forget!! November Pizza Days are November 5 and November 19. Orders are due by 11:59 PM the Monday before each Pizza Day (November 3 and November 17).
