We are excited to announce a partnership with the YMCA and their Mentor program. This wonderful program matches students (mentees) with adults (mentors) in the community. The mentors meet weekly with the mentee at the school. This program provides students with extra support and a positive relationship, so they can achieve their potential!

A Note from the Front Office
Mrs. Kelly Disbrow
Absences
If your child is absent from school, you must provide a doctor's note or a parent note within 3 days of returning to school. You can send in a paper copy to the front office, or you can email: [email protected].
Lost and Found
We are beginning to get a large collection of items in our Lost and Found cabinet - clothes, water bottles, lunch boxes, etc. If your child is missing any items, please swing by the school to check the cabinet. All items unclaimed by December 19, the last day before Holiday Break begins, will be donated to the Dream Center.
Picture Day
Picture Day will be held on Tuesday, October 21. For more information, click here.
A Note from the Testing Coordinator
Mrs. Wendye Henderson
CogAT/IA will occur from October 20-28, 2025. This test is only for 2nd grade students. The test will be given October 20-24, with make-up testing occurring on October 27 and 28.
CogAT (Cognitive Abilities Test) measures reasoning skills, while Iowa Assessments measure academic achievement in core subjects like reading and math. Parents can support their children by ensuring they get a good night's sleep, eat a healthy breakfast on testing days, and arrive at school on time. Results from both tests provide teachers with valuable information about a student's abilities and knowledge to help differentiate instruction and support learning.

Toys
We have students who are bringing in toys to the school. This is creating distractions in classrooms. Please do not allow your child to bring toys.
Below is the policy on toys from the Student and Parent Handbook (p. 38).
Toys/Contraband
All personal toys, radios, music players, handheld audio/game systems, slime, putty, fidgets, Legos, blocks, dolls, stuffed animals, etc., are not allowed at school unless the teacher requests that certain items be brought to school for a specific purpose. If a teacher requests this, a written request will be sent home with the student and through teacher communication. Any of these items, or any items that may injure anyone or cause a disturbance, are not allowed at school and will be taken from the student. Furthermore, disciplinary action will occur for bringing this into the school.
If a parent/guardian wishes to reclaim these toys/items, they may come to the school for them. The school will not be responsible for any item that is damaged or disappears at school.
Gum
Please note that candy is not allowed in the school; as a result, gum is not allowed. Please make sure that your child is not bringing gum into the school. Any students who are caught chewing gum will be asked to spit it out. Students carrying gum who are passing it out to other students will have it confiscated.
