Mrs. Haun's 7th Grade ELA Assignments

Shark Tank is a popular TV show that gives people the opportunity to make their dreams come true and become successful business people. These people are called entrepreneurs. Most entrepreneurs who enter the “Shark Tank” have a great new idea that they believe will help solve a lot of problems in the world and/or want a mass amount of people to know about their product/idea/business. They present or “pitch” their idea to the sharks. These sharks are wealthy business people who have already become successful based on their own inventions/innovations. The sharks then decide if they want to invest, or spend money of their own, in this brand new idea/product in the hopes that it becomes successful and they can make money of their own . In this unit you will be starting a business, with a new invention or innovation of your own.

This is to be worked on after you have completed your Key concept work sheets.

Over the next few days we will be applying some inferencing practice with your narrative writing skills. 
Instructions and requirements are all included in the slides attached to this assignment. All final drafts MUST be done on the attached google doc. 

For class today you will follow the link to the assigned nearpod. You will work with your table on this nearpod that focuses on building narrative writing skills. 

For reading today you will work on analyzing short stories through this ixl. Please make sue that you have your headphones and ixl login for class today. If you complete this ixl there is a second on that focuses on narrative point of view. This will be a good introduction to out first realist fiction unit. 

Over the next few lessons we will be reviewing Masterminds to focus in on the main idea and supporting details of this novel, and also on identifying the plot elements through the story. In order to understand and participate in these lessons to the best of your ability you will need to know some key vocabulary terms in addition to the terms we have covered previously.

This is your assignment for Thursday, 10/14. 

This passage, and the attached questions, is your assignment for our e-learning day on September 30th. You will need to read the passage and respond IN COMPLETE SENTENCES.
This can be done through Kami or on paper that you will turn in when we return to school on Monday October 3rd.

This practice will be your e-learning assignment for 9/30. Work on this skill, that we worked on on class on Wednesday,  until you have a score of 80% or for 15 minutes, whichever comes first.

 We will focus on building on our knowledge of the parts of speech in improve our understanding and usage of English conventions.


The worksheets that will be handed out in class are also attached to this assignment. If you need to do these online open the attached file using Kami to be able to work on them.

There are 12 discussion questions on the following slides. You should read and discuss each question with the people at your table, then type YOUR response in the space provided on the following slide. 
To type on the slide you will need to double click next to where it says, “Response:”.
On the final slide I would like you to come up with one addition question of your own and type that onto the slide. If there is still time you can ask and discuss your questions with your table.
