Many of you have been asking how you can help Lakes and Bridges Charter School become a reality. Thank you for sending in Letters of Interest and Letters of Support. But now, we need you to show up in person. Grab your friends, pack the car, and plan for a trip to Columbia.
On Thursday, April 6, our committee will present in Columbia before the S.C. Public Charter School District Board of Trustees to formally request our charter. Our presentation is at 12:15 p.m., and the Board will vote when we’re done. You are welcomed and encouraged to come watch our presentation and show your support.
Additionally, at 10 a.m., there will be an Open Session for public comments. This is your time to speak up for the school and give a public comment in support. There won’t be any comments allowed during our 12:15 presentation, so if you want to be on the record in support of Lakes and Bridges, you have to speak during the 10 a.m. session.
You only have 2 minutes maximum to speak. We encourage you to be persuasive and passionate. Please speak up for:
Why do you want this charter school?
Why does our area and/or your child need this school?
How has dyslexia affected your life / your child’s life?
How or why are public schools not meeting your child’s needs?
How will this school improve education?
How do you think that someone on the committee is qualified to help start the school?
The more voices of support we have, the more persuasive our charter application will be. Please help us show the Board that our community needs and wants this school.
